Study of meteorological drought and its impact on rainfed paddy productivity in Gunungkidul Regency

Gunungkidul Regency is known as an area that often experiences drought. On the other hand, also regency with highest amount of rice production in Special Region Yogyakarta Province. Rainfed paddy farming most widely developed type where irrigation needs are determined by rainfall. Decreased rainfall triggers meteorological drought can disrupt rainfed-based agriculture. This study aims to analyze distribution and impact on rainfed productivity during period 2001 – 2019. Meteorological identification was carried out using Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI). The widest occurred November 2006. frequency events Paliyan Sub-district 50 months while lowest Ponjong 30 months. Most sub-districts have a positive decreased when El Nino occurred.
